Club History

1988-1989
• Concept of R.C.Westlands, during tenure of PDG Rtn Abdul Lakha, then Governor of District 9200.

1989-1990
• PDG Dr.Yusuf Kodawala appoints Past Chairman, Nalin Shretta of R. Hurlingham to be his special representative.

1990-1991
• R.C Hurlingham sponsors the new club, the Rotary Club of Westlands. Sir Kailash Ramdance, Governor of District 92005 from Mauritius, appoints Rtn.Nalin Shretta to form the Provincial Rotary Club of Westlands
, meeting weekly in the Jacaranda Hotel.

• April 9, 1991 the Rotary Club of Westlands officially admitted into Rotary International with 51 charter mem bers.

• May 17, 1991-charter Night at Nairobi Hilton Hotel.

• In keeping with the R.I.theme "Preserve Planet Earth", the club planted 300 trees in Kangemi. Present were the Honorable Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Njoroge Mungai and D.G.Kailash. Later the then His Excellency, President Moi planted a tree in the same spot and congratulated chairman Nalin Shretta and the R.C.Westlands for initiating the tree planting project.

1992-1993
• A successful fashion show at the Safari Park Hotel. • Donations of medical equipment to Crescent Medical Centre, Pangani.

1993-1994
• Sponsorship of the Rotaract Club of Westlands
. • Funds raised for the Don Bosco Savio Centre (over KShs.400,000.00 raised).
• Donation of tools to Don Bosco schools in Nairobi.

1994-1995
• Sponsorship of Interact club in Nairobi Academy.
• Continued campaign to raise funds for Don Bosco, Savio Centre
• Work benches donated to Don Bosco in Karen
